Itinerário técnico

Como cultivar savory?

Um guia de cultivo passo a passo, da sementeira à colheita.

pH ideal 6.7 and 7.3Temperatura ideal 7 and 26°C

Sementeira

Done in the final location or in a tray with subsequent transplanting 4 to 7 weeks after germination.

Solo

It prefers moderately fertile, light, and well-drained soils. The pH should be between 6.7 and 7.3.

Clima

Locations with good sun exposure, with the ideal temperature range for cultivation between 7 and 26°C.

Fertilização

Not being a demanding crop, the addition of some base compost is nonetheless beneficial.

Rega

The soil should be kept consistently moist while plants are young; once established, watering frequency can be reduced. Drip irrigation is an excellent option.

Controlo de Infestantes

Mulching with organic materials is an interesting option for the crop, reducing competition for water, light and nutrients and helping to conserve moisture.

Controlo de Pragas

The crop has no significant pests, as adequate natural control will manage any problems that may arise.

Doenças

The crop does not present notable diseases; adequate crop rotations and wide spacing will be sufficient to control any problems that may arise.

Colheita

Harvesting can begin once the plant is well established, collecting branches or leaves for fresh or dried use. Fresh material can be harvested as needed, while branches intended for drying should be cut at the onset of flowering, as this is when the leaves have the highest essential oil content.
