Como cultivar leek de carentan 2?

Um guia de cultivo passo a passo, da sementeira à colheita.

pH ideal 6.0 and 6.8

Sementeira

Started in a seedling tray and then transplanted to the final location. The crop can be grown in rows, leaving about 15 cm between plants and 45 to 60 cm between rows.

Solo

Although it adapts well to various soil types, it prefers deep, fertile and well-drained soils. Sandy-clay soils are the most suitable; in heavy-textured soils, ridges or rows should be raised to ensure adequate drainage. Soil pH should be between 6.0 and 6.8.

Clima

It prefers mild climates, without excessive heat, requiring good light and avoiding shaded locations. It needs a period of cold during its vegetative cycle.

Fertilização

A base fertilization should be carried out with the incorporation of compost.

Rega

Leeks, due to their shallow root system, require frequent watering. The first watering should be carried out right after transplanting, with special attention during bulb thickening. Drip irrigation can be a great option, also preventing the leaves from staying wet and reducing the risk of disease development.

Controlo de Infestantes

Mulching with organic materials is a good option, as it reduces competition between weeds and the crop, as well as helping to retain soil moisture. Inadequate weed control leads to lower yields and provides shelter for pests.

Controlo de Pragas

The leek moth is a crop pest; to control it, infested residues from the previous crop must be removed, along with the use of Bacillus thuringiensis as a spray in the nursery and as a dip at transplanting.

Doenças

Powdery mildew is the main concern; control it by using wide plant spacing, moderate fertilisation without excess nitrogen and, if necessary, by applying dusting sulphur or a mixture (1:1) with lithothamne, as this is less phytotoxic than pure sulphur.

Colheita

The top of the plant can remain green if exposed to some light, and can be stored for several weeks.
